I also finished my Mysterious Mirror Socks, made out of a Pigeonroof Studios one-of colorway.

And then I started some Papa Socks in Lorna's Laces Pioneer. They're done now, and I'm working diligently on my Scarf #21 KAL.

And then I did some spinning on Jasmin's Louet Victoria. I finished 1/2 of a bump of Ivory Coast from Crown Mountain Farms.

And lastly, I got a whole MESS of yarn and fiber. I visited MeadowFarm Yarn Studio and Filati Fine Yarns, and all together I picked out 6 skeins of Kryptonite, AKA Schaefer Anne, and a couple of other sock yarns that I've never tried before. So much for a 1-to-1 ratio of output to input!

I went to see Watchmen last week. It was great, and Alan Moore is my favorite brand of crazy. I've also been watching Gossip Girl - shocking! I love it. And then there was The Manchurian Candidate, #67 on the AFI's list of 100 Greatest Films of All Time.

I finished Hardy's Return of the Native, and it was as awesome as 19th century literature can get. Interestingly, the end reminded me of Burgess's A Clockwork Orange. Also, I finished Julie and Julia, which was brain candy at its finest!

All this talk about British stuff reminded me that I got some great tea and an adorable teapot from San Francisco Coffee and Tea at Pier 39.

I finished both the Mismatched Relatively-Normal Socks and a cotton Dishcloth because the How Clean is Your House? ladies recommend cotton dishcloths. I'm currently working on the Scarf #21 from VLT, a Girasole by Jared Flood, and some socks; all of which require charts.

I'm spinning some Lincoln-Corriedale that is quite pretty and will one day become a naturally-colored something or other.

A huge thank-you to Aija for the gorgeous hand-carded batts! I will love them and call them... Bob.

On Valentine's Day, Neil Gaiman mentioned my (misspelled) name on his blog! And then Ms. Althea Crome herself complimented my Coraline Gloves! Then my brothers and sister laughed at me for being a big nerd, so it all evens out.

I talk about Thomas Hardy's The Return of the Native a LOT, and include my theory as to why there are so many orphaned or motherless children in literature. I also gross myself out by mentioning childbed fever (link for the curious). I picked up some books from Powells, including an autographed copy of John Updike's final book.

I got a bunch of Cashsoft Aran from Little Knits with which I plan to copy a favorite sweater, make an EZ blanket and an OWLS sweater. So cute!

I also made it into Mile 2 of my 12-Mile Quest for 2009 by finishing Seeded Rib Scarf #7 and some TOFUtsies socks. The review for the TOFUtsies sock yarn is on Episode 40 of The Knitmore Girls podcast. I'm also re-knitting a sock for the Eldest Relatively-Normal because it was ugly and too big. I cast on some socks in Pigeonroof Studios sock yarn that is - like everything else I seem to be doing lately, PINK.

In spinning news, I finished my Wish You Were Here 3-ply yarn and started spinning a grey lincoln fleece that Jasmin gave me, processed by Sherri at Morro Fleece Works.

I ripped out Scarf #21 from the Brie KAL and plan to re-start it soon.

I joined the Lime & Violet Sock Marathon 2009 and plan to knit 3 miles of my 26.3 miles of sock yarn.

Next weekend is Stitches West 2009. I'll be hanging out near the Purlescence booth (or behind the escalator) when I'm not shopping like a crazy person, then on Saturday at 6 I'm heading to Bobbin's Nest Studio for the Stitches party.

Sometime this week I'll post my Stitches Shopping List on my blog. It's supposed to keep me honest... but we'll see.

I went to Portland over the weekend and visited Yarnia, Portland's only DIY yarn store.  I also went to Powell's City of Books to buy No Idle Hands along with the winter '09 issue of Vogue Knitting.

What I didn't get at Powells was Julie and Julia, but it's in my shopping cart, along with My Life in France by Julia Child herself.

I finished reading Robinson Crusoe and am also listening to Black Powder War by Naomi Novik on my iPod.

I read Coraline the book and also saw the movie. Then I made my very own Coraline gloves! The originals were knitted by the incredible Althea Crome. Please note: if you got the pattern on 2/8 or 2/9, please re-visit the blog for some small changes to the original as I wrote it. Changes are for the Glove Top and Fingers and are marked in red text.

Pagewood Farm (warning! Weird flash site! Rav link here) did the sock yarn for my beautiful Santa Fe Socks (R). My EZ seamless yoke sweater is trucking along, and a swatch hat is in my future. At the time of podcasting I was 2/3 through the Seeded Rib Scarf #7, but I had a nice long chat with mom on Sunday night and finished it! Woohoo!  I also worked on my 10 minutes/day spinning sessions and am almost done with the second (of 3) plies of some Crown Mountain Farms SW Merino in Wish You Were Here.
